How Can We Help?

Which Mirrorless cameras are supported by FoCal?

Support for mirrorless systems varies by manufacturer, as some brands provide more “under the hood” access than others.

Nikon Z-Series (Fully Supported)

We offer comprehensive, automated support for the entire Nikon Z-series lineup. FoCal tethers directly to your camera, controlling the process automatically and providing helpful voice prompts if a manual setting change is needed.

With a Nikon Z camera, you can access our entire suite of professional tools, including:

  • Full AF Calibration to ensure peak sharpness.
  • Aperture Sharpness & Focus Consistency testing.
  • MultiTest & Stabilization Tests to build a complete performance profile of your gear.

Canon EOS R-Series (Unsupported)

Unfortunately, Canon EOS R-series cameras are not supported for calibration. When Canon transitioned from DSLRs to the mirrorless R-system, they removed the “AF Microadjustment” feature from the camera firmware (a feature Nikon chose to retain as “AF Fine-tune”) Without this internal setting, it is physically impossible for software to calibrate the autofocus.

While we initially offered limited testing for the R-series (such as Aperture Sharpness and Stabilization tests), Canon’s restrictive software environment has made it increasingly difficult to provide a reliable, high-quality experience. To ensure our users get the best results, we have made the difficult decision to focus our development on systems that allow for meaningful calibration and deeper hardware integration.
