The New Standard in Sharpness: Introducing FoCal 5.0!

Stop guessing. Start hitting.

You’ve invested in the best glass and the fastest sensors, but even the world’s finest camera gear is only as good as its focus. Today, we’re excited to introduce FoCal 5.0 – a release that takes everything you know about calibration and elevates it to a whole new level.

We’ve stripped back the code and overhauled the engine to bring you a redesigned look and feel alongside a massive upgrade to our underlying framework. Whether you’re shooting on a legacy DSLR or the latest mirrorless powerhouse, FoCal 5.0 delivers a faster, smoother, and more surgical approach to getting the sharpest images possible.

What’s New?

  • Next-Gen Framework: A brand-new underlying architecture for significantly improved stability and speed.
  • Precision Analysis: An improved image analysis engine for even more accurate results, plus updated RAW and metadata processors.
  • Enhanced Connectivity: Updates to the camera communication protocols and network updates for more reliable Wi-Fi and Ethernet operation.
  • Visual Improvements: A new graphics library for superior image rendering, and refreshed PDF report content and generation.
  • Feature Refinements: Improvements to the Scores feature, FoCal Database post-test analysis, and Nikon Snapshots.
  • Bug fixes: They say in this world, nothing is certain except death, taxes… and software bugs! We’ve squashed a swarm of little ones and a few “bigger nasties,” making this the most solid and reliable FoCal experience yet.

Android

The Android version of FoCal Mobile can be installed on all devices running Android 9 (Pie) or later.

There is a huge variety of Android devices and we can only test on a small subset. FoCal is an intensive application and we recommend using newer mid- to high-end Android devices with at least 4GB of RAM.

NOTE: The free version of FoCal Mobile deliberately offers the ability to connect to a camera, Verify Setup and run AF System Check, so you should ensure that these all run reliably before purchasing a subscription.
