What’s New in FoCal 2.13 Beta 1

FoCal Support

FoCal fully supports the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, allowing automatic autofocus calibration with minimal user interaction (User-Assisted Mode) as well as autofocus consistency, aperture sharpness and dust analysis measurements.

We’re releasing this version as a beta but it’s really a release-candidate and assuming there are no critical issues reported we will shortly be releasing the full General Availability version. If you have a chance to test with this beta version we would be very grateful for any feedback, especially its operation with the 1D X Mark III.

Adding new cameras to FoCal often highlights potential improvements that can be made to the support of older cameras. We run the full suite of our automated tests for supported cameras before release, and we’ve improved these to include some extra test cases.

In doing this, we’ve improved live view startup reliability on Canon cameras, as well as better detection of some focus parameters.
