We’re delighted to announce the release of Reikan FoCal 1.9.1 for Windows and Mac, bringing Canon EOS 70D support and some minor bug fixes.
Canon EOS 70D Support
The key feature of FoCal 1.9.1 is the addition of support for the Canon EOS 70D. The handling of all camera metadata has also been updated.
We have also fixed the following issue:
- Fixed an issue where all files saved to the directory specified in the Pro Settings/Preferences tab had the cameras raw extension (e.g. CR2 or NEF) even though some were JPEG images.
Note that the 70D is completely controlled by the computer so you can run fully automatic calibration with one button click!
Known Issues
The following are known issues which are being investigated:
- Very rarely, the Canon EOS 70D can stop communicating with computer and may cause FoCal to crash. If this happens, power down the camera, disconnect from the computer, then reconnect and restart FoCal. This is believed to be an issue with the Canon interface files and we are awaiting an update.
- In order to use Contrast Detect as the focus method in the AF Consistency test with the Canon EOS 70D, you must ensure that the “Live View Shooting I – Continuous AF” menu option is set to disabled.
