Please note: FoCal 2.12 has been superceeded by FoCal 2.12 MR1 – this fixes an important issue with Nikon image data. 2.12 MR1 is available to all licensed users of FoCal 2.12.
Reikan FoCal 2.12 brings offical support for the new Nikon D780 – the first Nikon camera which supports AF Fine Tune at both ends of the zoom range.
What’s New in FoCal 2.12
Nikon D780 Support
The official Nikon documentation is now available and we’ve made a few minor adjustments to the control of the Nikon D780 to fully support this new camera.
From a software point-of-view, the D780 is much more like the Nikon Z-series mirrorless cameras and suggests a shift to a common and more modern interface. It led to a couple of interesting development problems while we were adding support for the D780, but they’re all sorted now!
The big headline for this camera is the ability to set AF Fine Tune values for both the wide and telephoto ends of a zoom lens, as shown in the screenshot above, notice the AF Fine Tune Value part! (Check out the dedicated blog entry for more details).
During calibration, FoCal will instruct you which setting to change and you just jump into the D780 menu and change either the Wide or Telephoto option:

D780 supports separate AF Tuning for Viewfinder Photography and LiveView photography. Which one does Focal Pro support? The software doesn’t appear to distinguish between either so I assume it only supports AF tuning for viewfinder photography, as shown in both photos.
Hi Julius.
Both Viewfinder and Live View calibration on the D780 has been supported since FoCal 3.0 (FoCal 2020). You can select the Calibration Focus Mode in the test setting (see Calibration Focus Mode in this help page: https://www.reikanfocal.com/help2/0551.html).
The blog post for the D780 shows the version that was available at the time (2.12) which was superceded by FoCal 3 shortly afterwards.
