We’re pleased to announce the availability of FoCal 2.10 which builds upon improvements in FoCal 2.9 adding support for the Canon EOS 90D and EOS R cameras as well as automatic online lens identification updates.
What’s New in FoCal 2.10
Canon EOS 90D Support
FoCal now supports the Canon EOS 90D for all the tools: autofocus calibration, aperture sharpness, autofocus consistency and dust analysis, as well as general camera information.
There are a couple of things to note with 90D support within this release::
User Assisted Mode
Our initial expectations were this camera would work “hands free”. During development we discovered Canon has added restrictions, software change to the AFMA value is not currently possible across the USB interface supported by the camera.
The 90D is fully supported within FoCal in User Assisted Mode (UAM). We haven’t given up and are in conversation with Canon to see if it’s possible to allow the 90D to work with FoCal “hands free”.
Raw Support
There is no support for Raw mode on this camera at present. We have a solution to this which we’ll be bringing in a future release.
Canon EOS R Support
FoCal 2.10 also brings support for the EOS R, Canon’s first full-frame mirrorless camera. Connect your EOS R to your computer and FoCal will take over from there!
Note: there is NO autofocus calibration feature on the EOS R, FoCal cannot provide focus calibration for this camera. You can get detailed camera information, run autofocus consistency and aperture sharpness tests and will be able to compare results with other FoCal users. You can also perform detailed dust analysis on the camera sensor.
FoCal will soon be expanding with new tests, many of which will be applicable to mirrorless cameras so watch this space!
Online Camera and Lens Database Updates
Thanks again to everyone who has reported misidentified lenses. We’ve got a great collection of examples of misreported lenses and with your help we have the information to resolve nearly all lenses.
We’ve updated and improved our lens database, and have also made it possible for this to be updated automatically within FoCal. Users don’t need to press any extra buttons – FoCal will check for updates and apply the new database when available.
Our internal database of cameras has also been improved and expanded, and this will start to provide much more comprehensive data for File Mode analysis.
Catalina Support
Over the past few months we’ve been working with the beta releases of macOS Catalina (OS X 10.15) . The new framework introduced in FoCal 2.9 is fully 64-bit, meaning that now the new Mac operating system is released to everyone, we’re pleased to say that FoCal 2.10 is fully functional.

Hi Børge,
FoCal will support any and all auto focus lenses which are camera compatible.
That being the case the Sigma 10-20 lens should work as well as original lenses.
Can you drop the support team a note as they should be able to help 🙂
Best Regards,
Dave
